Maine West Vocal Solo & Ensemble
Tuesday, March 5th, 2019
- Who: All students who are interested in singing a vocal solo or ensemble (group) song and receiving feedback from a professional. (Note: All students in Chamber and Concert Choirs must perform in their preassigned ensembles for Vocal Solo & Ensemble. You'll receive more details in class)
- What: Students will get the opportunity to sing for a clinician (who is a professional in the classical music field) and their peers. This year's clinician has yet to be announced. The song must be of substantial musical/artistic value (no pop music) and must be adequately prepared. This means that your piece is something that you prepare over an extended period—not the night before! The student will sing for the clinician and get evaluated. “Best in Room” will get the chance to sing their solo/ensemble at the March Choir Concert.
- Why: To provide students an opportunity to work towards the goal of presenting their prepared piece and to receive feedback that will help them grow as musicians! Students will also get the experience of singing for an accompanist.
